Look, we get it. There's something about playing hoop outdoors that just feels more...authentic, for lack of a better word. But the fact of the matter is that indoor basketball is simply a better experience, for a variety of reasons. So if you're on the fence about whether to take your game indoors or outdoors, allow us to make the case for why indoor ball is where it's at.

First and foremost, there's the issue of weather. When you're playing outdoors, you're at the mercy of Mother Nature—and let's be honest, she can be fickle. One day it might be 75 degrees and sunny, and the next it might be freezing cold with a chance of snow. And don't even get us started on how much rain can mess up a game. When you're playing indoors, on the other hand, you don't have to worry about any of that. The temperature is always comfortable, and there's never a risk of rain delay (or worse).

Another big advantage of indoor basketball is that the court is always in pristine condition. There are no cracks or divots to trip you up, no puddles to cause you to slip, and no dead spots where the ball gets stuck. Outdoor courts can be notoriously uneven and dangerous, but when you're playing inside, you know that the court is smooth and level—which means fewer injuries and more accurate shots.

Finally, there's the simple matter of convenience. When you're playing indoors, everything is right there at your fingertips—the water fountain, the bathrooms, your bag full of gear. Outdoor courts are often located in remote areas with few amenities nearby, which can make for a long trek back to your car if you need something.

All things considered, it's hard to beat playing basketball indoors as far as we're concerned.

  • Comfortable temperature? Check.
  • Perfectly level court? Check.
  • Convenient location? Check.

So if you're on the fence about whether to play indoors or outdoors, we hope this has helped sway you in favor of coming inside where it's warm and dry!
